China Hydraulic Pump Manufacturer

A hydraulic pump is a key power component in hydraulic systems, converting mechanical energy into hydraulic pressure energy. It provides pressurized fluid to drive various hydraulic machinery, making it widely used in construction, engineering machinery, automotive, shipping, and industrial equipment.
There are many types of hydraulic pumps, such as gear pumps, vane pumps, piston pumps, and hand pumps. Each type offers different pressure, flow, and efficiency levels to meet different working conditions. Gear pumps are simple and durable; piston pumps provide high pressure and precision.
With stable performance, high efficiency, and reliable sealing, hydraulic pumps ensure smooth operation of hydraulic systems. They feature compact structure, easy installation, and long service life. As an essential power source, hydraulic pumps play an important role in modern industrial and mechanical transmission systems.

Battery-Powered Hydraulic Pumps: Runtime and Duty Cycle Realities

Battery-powered hydraulic pumps have become a go-to solution for fieldwork. No extension cords, no generators—just grab and go. But two questions keep coming up from operators and maintenance crews: how long will the battery actually last, and can these pumps handle continuous running or are they strictly intermittent? Here's what the numbers and manufacturer specs tell us, with references to Changyou Tool's actual product line.

How long does a battery of a portable battery-powered hydraulic pump last?

Battery life is not a single figure. It all comes down to what you're using the portable battery-powered hydraulic pump for. Those who make these pumps usually talk about battery life in two ways: how long it runs without stopping and how many times it can go through a high-pressure cycle on one charge.

Real-World Benchmarks from the Industry

If you have a portable battery-powered hydraulic pump that uses an 18VDC lithium-ion battery with 9.0 Ah you can use it for about 15 minutes without stopping at 700 bar on one charge. The same battery pack can do dozens of high-pressure cycles, which depends on the size of the cylinder and how far it moves. Some pumps have two stages. They work fast at pressure and then switch to high pressure for the last part, which helps the battery last longer.

What Uses Up the Battery Faster

  • Doing high-pressure work: When the battery-powered hydraulic pump has to work against 700 bar it uses more power than when it is doing low-pressure work.
  • Using acting tools: These tools need power to move in both directions, which means the battery does not last as long. It only lasts about 75% as long as it would, with tools that only move in one direction.
  • The weather: If it is very hot or very cold the lithium-ion battery does not work well, but most modern batteries are made to work well even in tough conditions.

For jobs. Like crimping, bolting, or using hydraulic tools. One charge of the battery is enough to get you through a few hours of work in the morning before you need to change or charge the battery of the portable battery-powered hydraulic pump. The PB102 Series from Power Team, for example, uses an 18VDC 9.0 Ah Li-ion battery and is described as providing "extended run-time" in a compact, portable package.

Can a 700 Bar Electric Hydraulic Pump Run Continuously, or Is It Only for Intermittent Duty?

This depends on how the pump is built. Some are rated for short bursts with cooldown periods. Others are designed to run all day without overheating.

Intermittent Duty Pumps

Most compact portable pumps—especially battery-powered units and smaller electric models—are explicitly rated for intermittent duty. They typically have:

  • Smaller oil reservoirs (under 2 gallons)
  • Lower horsepower motors (under 1.5 hp)
  • Passive cooling only

The industry uses standard duty cycle classifications under DIN VDE 0530: S3 designates intermittent duty with controlled heating, while S1 means continuous duty. For example, Bucher Hydraulics specifies their compact power units operate at an S3 duty cycle, meaning 30 seconds on-load and 270 seconds off-load.

Feature Intermittent Duty Continuous Duty
Typical applications Field bolting, occasional lifting, MRO Production lines, repeated bolting cycles
Cooling Passive Active fans available
Reservoir size Smaller (under 2 gal) Larger (2+ gal)
Duty classification S2 or S3 S1

Continuous Duty Pumps

Industrial-grade electric pumps are built differently. They feature:

  • Larger reservoirs to dissipate heat (e.g., the Changyou DB300-D1 has a 30L oil reserve )
  • More robust motors with active cooling
  • Higher duty ratings (S1 classification)

A motor rated for continuous duty, for instance, might be fan-cooled and totally enclosed, as specified in some hydraulic pump assemblies.
