Depends. Battery performance is not a fixed number. It changes based on three things: the tools design, the batterys capacity and the wire gauge you are working with. Thick cable uses power from the battery. That is how hydraulics work.
Looking at numbers an 18V tool, from a well-known brand usually gives about 90 connections when working with 600 MCM copper. If you use a 10.8V tool you might get 250 crimps or more. This is if you are using wires.
Plenty of factors influence real-world runtime:
Some recent models include a low-charge lockout: the tool checks remaining capacity before each cycle and refuses to start if it can't finish. That's a genuine timesaver, because partial crimps have to be cut out and redone.
Nearly all of them do. Interchangeable dies are what make these tools versatile. One power head, multiple die sets—that's the formula.
But here's the catch: die mounting varies by brand. You can't assume a die from one make slides into another. Kits usually ship with a good assortment right out of the box. A 16-ton set, for example, often contains 13 die pairs that cover 8 AWG through 600 MCM.
